# Export a site collection

Packaging site collections with the SXA Site Collection Exporter is the easiest way to move site collections between environments. With the Site Collection Exporter, you can quickly create a package that contains:

- The site collection content – /sitecore/content/Group/Site Collection
- The site collection templates – /sitecore/templates/Project/Group/Site Collection
- The site collection themes – /sitecore/media library/Themes/Group/Site Collection
- The site collection media library items – /sitecore/media library/Project/Group/Site Collection

To export a site collection:

1. In the Content Editor, right-click the site collection item, click **Scripts**, and click **Quick Download Site Collection as Package**.
2. In the **Download site collection as a package** dialog box, enter the metadata and click **OK**.
3. When the export has finished, click **Download**.
