# Edit a rich text field in Horizon

When you edit content in rich text fields, you can benefit from the advanced editing functionalities in the rich text editor.

You use Content to edit content without a style sheet, so the rich text editor in Content applies default style definitions. The editor in Pages applies information from the style sheet for your website, and displays the text as it will appear on your published site.

> [!note]
> An item looks different in the Content and Pages rich text editors. This is because Content uses a default style sheet, and Pages uses your website's stylesheets.

To edit a rich text field In Pages:

- In the page editor, click the rich text field and begin editing the field directly on the page.

To edit a rich text field in Content:

- Click **Edit content** below the rich text field.

In both Pages and Content, the rich text formatting tools appear in the right-hand pane.

To apply font formats such as bold or italic to text:

To remove formatting:

To insert a media file:

- Click the **Insert media** icon ![The Insert media icon](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/xp/en/users/100/sitecore-experience-platform/images/Insert_media_icon_cropped.png) and select the file to insert, then click **Add selected**.

The image is inserted with a gray background to differentiate the picture from the surrounding text. If the image is larger than 260 px, it is resized to 260 px with 10 px padding. If the image is 260 px or smaller, the size is not changed.

You can also [create links in rich text fields](https://doc.sitecore.com/xp/en/users/100/sitecore-experience-platform/create-a-link-in-a-rich-text-field-in-horizon.html "Create a link in a rich text field in Horizon").

You can use [keyboard shortcuts](https://doc.sitecore.com/xp/en/users/100/sitecore-experience-platform/keyboard-shortcuts-in-the-rich-text-editor.html "Keyboard shortcuts in the rich text editor") in the rich text editor in Content.

## The HTML editor tab in Content

In Content, the rich text editor has two tabs. The **Visual editor** tab is selected by default. On the **Visual editor** tab, the text looks similar to how it will appear on your website. To view and edit the HTML code for the text, you can click the **HTML editor** tab.

There are three default HTML classes that you can apply to paragraphs: `content-style-minimal`, `content-style-standard`, and `content-style-full`. Use the HTML editor in Content to apply these classes to paragraphs. The default appearance of these classes is shown in Content. You can define the classes in the CSS for your website, and then in Pages you can see how the text appears on your website.

> [!note]
> The editor does not allow you to use other HTML tags than the ones provided in the drop-down field. Also, you can only use the default classes. If you use tags or classes that are not allowed by the editor, they are removed automatically.
