# The metadata editor in Pages

You use the metadata editor in Pages to edit metadata for a page. Fields that are not visible on the page can be accessed in the metadata editor.

To open the metadata editor from the page editor, click the Metadata icon ![The Metadata icon](https://doc.sitecore.com/api/markdown-image/xp/en/users/100/sitecore-experience-platform/images/Field_edit_mode_icon.png).

The fields are displayed similar to how they are displayed in Content, and you edit the fields in the same way as you [edit fields in Content](https://doc.sitecore.com/xp/en/users/100/sitecore-experience-platform/edit-or-reset-a-field-in-content.html "Edit or reset a field in Content").
