# Create a page in the Experience Editor

You can create new pages for your website directly from the Experience Editor.

To add a new page to your website:

1. In the Experience Editor, on the **Home** tab, in the **Edit** group, click **Insert page**.
2. In the **Insert Item** dialog box, navigate to the item that you want to add the page under and click the type of page you want to add, for example, the **Sample Item**. The type of page that you can create varies depending on where you want to add it.

3. In the **Name** field, enter a name for the item and click **OK**. The new page appears on the website and you can now edit the item by adding text, images, sidebar text, and so on.

    > [!note]
    > When you create a new page, it is automatically locked to prevent other users from editing it.

4. When you have finished editing the new page, click **Save** and then click **Unlock** to make the item available to other content authors.
