# Resolve Google Maps error in Experience Explorer

In the Experience Editor, the Explore mode Viewer panel can display a Google Map to show the visitor’s location. However, when the Google Maps API changes, the Viewer panel displays an error message instead of the Google Map.

To resolve a Google Maps error:

1. In a browser, open the following page: `https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/javascript/get-api-key`.
2. Follow the instructions on the page to get an API key.
3. In the Content Editor, on the */sitecore/system/Modules/Experience Explorer/Map Settings/Google* item, enter the key in the **Api Key** field.
4. Clear the browser cache.

    > [!note]
    > Refer to the help for your browser if you do not know how to clear the cache.

The map now displays correctly.
