Change the layout of a component

Version: 10.4
Note

Use the Experience Editor for the steps described in this topic.

By default, when you add a component to a page, it takes the full width of the column. You can change this in the grid settings of the component. To change the default settings permanently, you must change the grid settings in the Content Editor.

To change the layout of a component:

  1. To see the grid columns, on the ribbon, on the View tab, select Grid.

  2. In the toolbar of the component, click Edit style and layout.

  3. In the Grid section, on the Basic tab, change the width of the component. Depending on the grid system you use, you can set the column width for different devices. For example, you can specify over how many columns an advertisement will display.

  4. You can add another component to the page by placing it above a component that is already on the page.

Add a component above existing components.
    Note

The new component takes the grid settings of the existing component. This can be convenient if you want to add multiple components of the same size. For example, three advertisements of the same size.

  5. You can change the more complex settings of a component on the Advanced tab. For example, to hide a wide advertisement from displaying on mobile phones, on the Advanced tab, in the Display option, select None.

Note

To display components that are hidden on specific devices because of grid settings, on the View tab, select Hidden components.
