Statuses of public Marketplace apps
The status of a public Marketplace app determines what changes you can make to it. The status depends on whether or not your organization created the app.
Your organization created the app
You can view the status of all public apps created by your organization on the Cloud Portal My apps and App studio pages. The status can be any of the following:
-
In development and To be installed - when you register the app, it appears as In development on the App studio page and as To be installed on the My apps page. In this status, you can configure your app to make it ready for installation in your organization. Installation is required so you can develop the app locally. In this status, you can also delete the app.
-
Testing - when you install your app so you can develop it locally, you can still configure or delete it. When configuring its extension points, you must have a minimum of one extension point enabled at all times. On the My apps page, the app stays in the Testing status until the app is approved for publishing at a later stage.
-
Update required - if you change the extension points, API access, or the permissions of an installed app, depending on the changes, the app's status might change to Update required on the My apps page. In this case, you must update the app for the changes to take effect.
-
Pending approval - after submitting the app for review, wait for approval from Sitecore. You cannot make changes to your app in this status.
-
Action required - if your app needs work, update its configuration and source code, depending on the feedback you receive from Sitecore. Then, submit your app for review again.
-
Approved - after getting approval from Sitecore, you can publish your app. In this status, you can also update your app without having to re-submit it for approval, or delete it. On the My apps page, the app status changes from Testing only to Installed because it is now ready to be used by the team members of this organization if an Organization Admin or Organization Owners grants users app access.
-
Published - the app is published and available for all Sitecore organizations to discover it in the public Marketplace. An Organization Admin and Organization Owner can install your app, and then grant organization users app access so they can use it.
You can also update your app without having to re-submit it for approval.
-
Suspended - Sitecore may suspend a Marketplace app if it violates policy. Suspended apps are removed from the public Marketplace, and existing users can no longer use them. You'll be notified so you can address the issues and get your app in the published state again.
-
Scheduled deletion - if you decide to delete your public app, it is immediately removed from the public Marketplace and is no longer available to discover or install. All organizations that currently use the app are immediately notified. For existing installations, the app can still be used during a 30-day grace period. At the end of the grace period, the app is permanently deleted for all organizations.
Your organization didn't create the app
You can view the status of all public apps installed in your organization but created by a different organization on the Cloud Portal My apps page. The status can be any of the following:
-
Installed - after you install an app using the public Marketplace, the app is listed on the My apps page. You must grant organization users app access so they can start using the app in its extension points. In this state, you can also update the app's installation options or uninstall the app.
-
Update required - if the app developer changes certain app configuration, depending on the changes, the app's status might change to Update required on the My apps page. In this case, you must update the app for the changes to take effect. In this state, you can also uninstall the app.
-
To be installed - if you uninstall an app, you can reinstall it in My apps. If you reinstall an app, you need to grant organization users app access again.
-
Suspended - Sitecore may suspend a Marketplace app if it violates policy. Suspended apps are removed from the public Marketplace, and existing users can no longer use them. In this state, you can uninstall the app or wait for the app developer to address the issues and publish the app again. After the app is published, you need to install it again.
-
Scheduled deletion - if a public Marketplace app is deleted by its creator, you can still use the app during a 30-day grace period. At the end of the grace period, all organization team members lose access to the app and all previously saved app configurations.
