Scaling and configuring the xDB Reporting database

The xDB Reporting database is likely to experience high write volume because it is constantly being written to by the processing role(s). Standard recommendations include:

Create a dedicated server for the xDB Reporting database.
Position the processing role(s) and the xDB Reporting database physically close or in the same subregion in Azure if possible.
Configure the batch aggregation options.
Manage the size of your reporting data.
Scale the xDB Reporting database vertically.

Note

Sitecore does not support horizontal scaling of the xDB Reporting database.
