Sitecore blob storage

Version: 10.1

BLOB is an acronym for Binary Large Objects, and blob storage is a way of storing the unstructured data of highly scalable objects, (for example, media items).

Use the Sitecore blob storage documentation to gain an overview of how Sitecore media items use blob storage, how you can enable Azure blob storage for Sitecore blobs, and how to migrate blobs from SQL Database to Azure Storage using the blob migration tool.

Before you install blob storage, work through the considerations for using blob storage.

If you have already installed the blob storage module, refer to the Troubleshooting blob storage topic to understand blob storage limitations, security, and performance.

Note

After you enable Azure blob storage, a blob ID is automatically assigned to media items.
