Media delivery service

Sitecore Content Hub is evolving towards a microservice architecture that is easier to use, maintain, deploy, and integrate. Each microservice is independent, functioning without being embedded in the application itself. Microservices are ideal for SaaS, where each service is part of a larger system, as illustrated in the following diagram.

The Media Delivery Service (MDS) is decoupled from Content Hub and, when associated with a Cloudflare CDN, it quickly delivers content to users worldwide.

Note

From Content Hub 4.2.0, the MDS supports multi-tenancy, where a single MDS serves link requests for multiple tenants. The multi-tenant MDS can serve links created on Content Hub 4.0.0 and later. This is invisible to portal users, who simply make requests to the MDS.

Through the Media Delivery Service APIs, the MDS serves the following link types:

  • Delivery

  • Public

  • Public collections
