Static bundles
A static bundle has the following characteristics:
-
Items that compose a static bundle are predefined during bundle creation and are static. The shopper cannot choose or mix items to include in a static bundle.
-
The quantity of each item required to form the bundle is predefined during bundle creation and is static. The shopper cannot select quantities of items within a bundle.
You cannot assign a static bundle to multiple catalogs, and the sellable items in a static bundle must belong to the same catalog.
Static bundle pricing
You apply static bundle pricing at the bundle level. The price of a static bundle is not affected by the discrete pricing of individual items within it. When you change the price of a sellable item that is also sold as part of a static bundle, the price of the static bundle is not affected by the changes and remains as defined at the bundle level.
You set and manage the price of static bundles using list price or card pricing, in the same way as you set the price on non-bundled sellable items.
Static bundle and sellable item variants
There are two ways that you can add a sellable item with variants to a static bundle:
-
You can add the main product definition to the bundle (as opposed to one of its variants). In this case, all product variants will be available as part of the bundle, giving the shopper the option to select, for example, the desired size or color.
For example, in the Sitecore XC sample storefront, the sellable item Habitat Dwell Robosweep Vacuum Wifi Enabled is available in five colors, each defined as a product variant. When you add the main sellable item to a static bundle (as opposed to adding a specific variant), you make all variants (in this case all five colors) available to the shopper for selection. The shopper must select one of the colors proposed as a variant on the product details page.
-
You can add a specific variant to the bundle (as opposed to the main product). In this case, only the variant that you associate with the bundle is included in the bundle.
The price of a static bundle is not affected by the price assigned to product variants.
Static bundle availability and inventory
You do not manage the inventory of a static bundle. The availability of a static bundle is derived from the availability of its constituent sellable items.
