Break inheritance

By default, a child project, stage, job, or task inherits its security settings from the parent. You can change this by breaking the inheritance between the parent and the child. In a multi-stage project, each stage is a child and the project is the parent, meaning the stage inherits all the security settings from the parent by default.

Warning

Breaking the inheritance on a child project, stage, job, or task can have many implications. Ensure you understand these implications before you proceed.

To break inheritance in Knockout:

  1. On the entity details page, click Roles.

  2. In the dialog that opens, click Break inheritance.

To break inheritance in React:

  1. On the entity details page, click User access.

  2. In the User access dialog, click Add users.

  3. In the Add users dialog, turn on or off the Inherit user security settings from parent switch.
