Create a content widget

In Sitecore Discover, banner and HTML block widgets are content widgets for your application. You have freedom to use an appearance setting (template) or your HTML code, then configure it to your needs with CSS and JavaScript.

This walkthrough describes how to:

  1. Create a content widget
  2. Select a template
  3. Define the appearance using HTML, CSS, and JS

Create a content widget

To create a content widget:

  1. On the menu bar, click Widgets.
  2. On the Widgets tab, click Add Widget.
  3. Click Banner or HTML Block.
  4. Enter or select values for the Widget name, RFK ID, Variation name, and Will be used in form fields.
  5. To review your widget, click Next.
  6. Click Save or to change your settings click Prev.

Select a template

To select a template:

  1. On the menu bar, click Widgets.

  2. On the Widgets tab, click the name of the widget you want to open.

  3. On the Widget Settings tab, on the right, in the Template card, click Edit.

  4. On the Template selection page, to filter list of template cards:

    • By name, in the search input text box, enter text.
    • By entity, in the Entities dropdown, select an entity.
    • By creator, in the Creator dropdown, select Domain & Sitecore, Domain, or Sitecore.

  5. In the list of template cards, in a card, to open a dialog for more information, click i_RFKdetails.png.

    In the open dialog, on the top right, to close dialog, click close_x.png.

  6. In the card of the selected template, click Choose.
