1. Manage sources

Advanced settings

Important

Feature availability is part of a phased rollout. Your organization may not see this functionality yet. It will become available when your environment is included in the rollout.

When you configure a source, you can select which advanced search settings, if any, apply to search components connected to that source. These settings help enhance the user experience by supporting a wider range of search inputs and making it easier for users to find relevant content, regardless of how they phrase their queries.

To enable an advanced setting, during source creation, turn on the switch for that setting.

The advanced search settings available in SitecoreAI are:

  • Semantic reranking - reranks initial keyword results by using AI to understand the meaning, intent, and context behind search queries, rather than relying only on exact keyword matches. This allows SitecoreAI to return relevant results even when users use synonyms, natural language phrases, or different wording than what appears in the content.

For example, with semantic reranking enabled, a search for “how do I improve team leadership skills?” would return "Guide to becoming a better manager" and "Leadership development training resources".

  • Fuzzy search - improves tolerance for spelling mistakes and minor input variations by matching search queries to relevant results even when characters are missing, added, or out of order. This helps ensure users still see meaningful results when their queries contain typos or small errors.

For example, with fuzzy search enabled, a search for "prodcut managr" would return "Product manager job description" and "Product manager onboarding checklist".

Important

To enable fuzzy search, you must make at least one field searchable during source creation.

Note

If both semantic reranking and fuzzy search are enabled, fuzzy matching will only activate after a search returns no results.
