Core capabilities of Sitecore Discover
Sitecore Discover core capabilities include product recommendations, catalog search, content service, personalized emails, and reports and analytics.
Catalog search
Your product data is maintained in Discover using a product data feed mechanism that was put in place during implementation. You can use the Customer Engagement Console (CEC) to browse your product catalog.
When visitors to your website or application search for products, the preview search and search results widgets deliver the user experience.
Using the attributes of the products and categories in your catalog, you can:

Create search experiences around product attributes such as brands, colors, sizes, pricing, and inventory.

Present search results in the context of webpages, visitors, and markets.
Recommendations engine
The CEC contains recommendation widgets that, when placed in your website or app, display product recommendations and suggestions to users based on the context defined in widget rules. To populate recommendation widgets with relevant content, Discover uses AI recipes that source products from your catalog. The CEC provides a list of AI recipes available out-of-the-box to display trending products, discounted inventory, new products and much more.
By adding context criteria to a selected recipe, you can take advantage of Discover AI to:

Make smart recommendations based on trends and inventory.

Cross-sell products in the context of visited pages, visitor history, co-viewing, and co-buying.
Content service
Sitecore Discover provides content widgets such as banners, for example, that you can style to create rich visitor experiences. Populated with images and text, content widgets enable you to communicate with your website or application visitors to support your merchandising objectives.
Choose from predefined appearance styles layouts or create a custom layout, and place the widgets throughout your application to inject content and messaging throughout your application.
Personalized emails
Sitecore Discover offers a simple way to run email campaigns. Based on visitor profiles combined with your list of registered users, you can target users with email messages based on their behavior.

Reports and analytics
The Analytics section of Sitecore Discover Customer Engagement Console (CEC) contains many reports and dashboards that let you monitor you websites or e-commerce stores. These reports provide deep insight into the performance of your site, pages, search and recommendation widgets, product catalog, data feeds, and other Discover functionality.
