View details about a category

Sitecore Discover uses categories to automatically create product listing pages, so it is essential that category information is accurate. You can use the Categories section of the Catalog page of the Customer Engagement Console (CEC) to look at how categories relate to one another and view details about them. This can help you ensure that categories are correctly nested and that products are assigned to the correct categories.

Note

Categories are defined and updated using a category data feed.

To browse, find and view a category using the CEC:

  1. In the CEC, on the menu bar, click Catalog, then click Categories.

  2. In the Search By drop-down menu, click either Category Name or Category IDs.

  3. Enter the category name or ID you are looking for in the search bar. You do not have to press Enter; the search results populate as you type.

    Tip

When you view a category, a number in parenthesis indicates how many child categories are nested underneath. You can view nested categories by clicking on the arrow next to the parent category in the Category Browser.

  4. Click the category you want to view. This brings up a page with information about the category such as category ID, URL path, and so on.

  5. Optionally, to view more details about the category, on the Basic tab, click Additional options. From here, you can view the category information as it appears in the data feed by clicking RFK Details, view analytics about that category by clicking Performance, or view that category's product listing page on your website by clicking View On Site.

  6. Optionally, to view products from the category, click the Products tab. Clicking on an individual product from this tab opens its profile in the products section of the Catalog page.
