Standard Template workflow section fields
The /sitecore/Templates/System/Templates/Standard Template inherits its workflow section fields from the /sitecore/Templates/System/Templates/Sections/Workflow template. The inherited workflow section fields are:

| Workflow | The workflow currently attached to the content item. |
| State | The current workflow state. |
| Lock | Defines whether or not the content item is locked by a user. If the content item is locked, this field shows the user and the time when the content item was locked. |
| Default workflow | The default workflow of the content item. |
Assigning workflows to content items
Sitecore does not put new content items in a workflow by default. It only places content items in a workflow if the Default workflow field is set in the corresponding template's Standard Values.
The Workflow and State fields should be left blank for Templates, Branch, and __Standard values items.
