Manage a Vercel connection

Important

If you're getting started with Vercel for the first time, the Vercel connector can help you quickly deploy your website. However, this creates a new Vercel project for every site you deploy. For production sites and multiple site connections across environments, deploy your front-end application to Vercel or Netlify.

The Vercel connector makes it easy to deploy your XM Cloud website on Vercel. It automates the setup of Vercel and defines some initial environment variables in the Vercel project.

Before you can deploy an XM Cloud website to Vercel, you must create an XM Cloud project and environment and create a website in your environment.

Deploy an XM Cloud website using the Vercel connector

Important

Vercel does not natively support Azure DevOps as a Git provider. To use Azure DevOps with Vercel, you need to use the Vercel Deployment Extension and set up an Azure Pipeline.

To deploy an XM Cloud website using the Vercel connector:

  1. Sign in to the XM Cloud Deploy app, click the relevant project, then click the environment that contains the website you want to deploy.

  2. On the environment page, click Sites.

  3. On the Sites tab, you should see the website you want to deploy. Click Publish all sites.

  4. When the publish finishes, for the website you want to deploy, click Actions > Set up hosting.

    Note

When you set up hosting, XM Cloud Deploy creates a new project in your Vercel account.

  5. In the Create Vercel project and link to site dialog, in the Project name field, enter a name for the new Vercel project.

    • To use a new Vercel installation, click Create a new Vercel installation and follow the steps.

    • To use an existing Vercel installation, in the Select an existing Vercel installation drop-down menu, click the installation you want to use.

  6. Click Save.

If you want to unlink a site from its Vercel connection, you can unlink the site from its host. When you unlink a site from its host, you can also choose to delete the Vercel project associated with the site.

To unlink a site from its host:

  1. On the navigation pane of the XM Cloud Deploy app, click Projects.

  2. On the Projects page, click the project that contains the environment where you want to unlink a site.

  3. On the project page, click the environment where you want to unlink a site.

  4. On the environment page, click Sites.

  5. On the Sites tab, for the site you want to unlink, click Actions > Unlink site from host.

  6. In the Unlink site from host dialog:

    • If you also want to delete the Vercel project linked to the site, select the Delete the project from Vercel check box.

    Click Unlink.
