Cache size recommendations

Tuning the caches is an ongoing exercise, but use the following recommendations as starting points and adjust as needed:

  • Recommended cache size for large prefetch caches for core, master and web role tailored are as follows - for core 512MB, for master, 1024MB, and for web 1024MB.

  • Data and Item caches (database specific) should be 50% of their equivalent prefetch, for example, for core 256MB, for master 512MB, and for web 512MB.

  • AccessResultCache almost always needs to be sized up, and usually well past the 200MB default. General rule is to adjust, monitor, and adjust again. We recommend that this cache NOT exceed 2GB.
