Set which renderings are allowed in a placeholder

Version: 10.2

You can use placeholder settings to restrict the renderings that can be added to placeholders. If you are using placeholder settings and you create a new rendering, you must update the settings for placeholders where you want to use the new rendering.

To allow renderings for a placeholder:

  1. In the Content Editor, in the sitecore/Layout/Placeholder Settings folder, select the placeholder where you want to use the new rendering.

For example, select the content placeholder that is installed with Sitecore by default.

  2. In the Data section, in the Allowed Controls field, click Edit.

  3. In the Select Items dialog, use the double-arrows to move each rendering that you want to allow into the right pane.

  4. Click OK and save the item.
