Create a new language version of a message
You can create and send versions of your email campaigns in multiple languages so that your recipients can read the message in their preferred language. In addition, you can target your recipients better by adjusting the type of links, landing pages, or images for each language version of the email campaign.
To create the message in multiple language versions, the relevant languages must be available in your Sitecore installation, and you must have Language Write permissions to each language. If you need to add a new language to Sitecore, or you need Language Write permissions to a specific language, you must contact your Sitecore administrator.
To create a new language version of a message:
-
In the Email Experience Manager, open the email campaign that you want to create a new language version.
-
Click the Message language button.
The language of the version currently displayed is shown on the Message language button. In the example above, English is displayed on the button. The English version of the message is also the default message version as indicated by the bold lettering. The drop-down menu displays all the languages that are available in your Sitecore installation and the checkmark indicates that a version of the message has been created in that particular language. In the example above, a version of the message has been created in both English and French.
ImportantThe labels on the Message language button are language codes and not country codes.
-
Click the Message language button and then click the language that you want to use to create the message.
The new language version opens and a notification appears, telling you that a new language version has been created.
NoteAny attachments that are attached to the original language version are copied automatically to all new language versions. You can delete these attachments or add new attachments to the new language version.
-
Save your changes.
-
Edit and translate the new language version of the email campaign. Use the Message language drop-down menu to switch between the available language versions.
-
When you are ready to send the email campaign, on the Delivery tab, select the Use preferred language check box.
To send your email campaign in the preferred language of each recipient, on the Delivery tab, scroll down to the Multi-language header, and select the Use preferred language check box. If a recipient does not have a preferred language configured, they will receive the message in the language currently selected in the language drop-down.
