Truncating long search keyphrases
Sitecore Discover handles long search keyphrases by truncating them and keeping only the first few words. The approach to truncating long keyphrases helps balance these two factors:

Relevance - provides the best results for each query.

Performance - returns the search results fast.
Often, visitors copy and paste text from another source resulting in long search keyphrases. Usually, the first few words in the keyphrases already represent their search intent. By truncation, Discovercan expand the search and quickly return relevant results.
If Discover does not truncate long keyphrases, the search process can take a long time to return any results, which can then negatively impact the use experience.
