Track the performance of an experiment

Performance tracking allows you to monitor the results of an experiment against a specific goal, such as increasing conversions or revenue. In Sitecore Personalize, if you’ve enabled performance tracking and added a primary goal, you can determine the winning variant, and gain access to performance analytics.

Tracking is enabled by default for all experiments. You can choose not to track performance if you only need operational data and not performance metrics. This option allows you to start an experiment without setting any goal.

Note

Sitecore Personalize automatically tracks the performance of experiments running with optimized testing. You can't disable this type of tracking without turning off optimized testing.

Enable performance tracking

To enable performance tracking:

  1. In the experiment builder, click the Goals tile.

  2. Click the Track performance option.

  3. Add a primary goal. You can add secondary goals to track additional metrics. Sitecore Personalize tracks all goals added, but uses the primary goal to determine the winning variant.

  4. Start the experiment. When it is started, you can immediately see operational data. Within 24 hours, you can also view performance analytics to see which variant is leading, or if a winner has been declared.

Disable performance tracking

To disable performance tracking:

  1. In the experiment builder, click the Goals tile.

  2. Click the Don't track performance option. This action disables goal tracking and removes any experiment goals previously added.

  3.  Start the experiment. After it starts, you can only access operational data. Performance analytics are no longer available.
