Managing roles in Sitecore Search
With the Sitecore Cloud portal, you can manage users and their roles. Each role in Sitecore Search gives users different capabilities in Sitecore Search.
Important
Only a Sitecore Cloud portal Organization Owner or Organization Admin can manage users.
Click one of the following tabs to see a list of roles for Search, together with the permissions granted by each. The roles and permissions vary depending on whether Search has been activated in the Sitecore Cloud portal for your organization or not.
If your organization is using the Sitecore Cloud portal, the following roles are available.
| Role | Description | Permissions |

| Viewer | This role lets users view and edit various pages and configurations. It is the base role and primarily used by marketers to make day-to-day merchandising updates.ImportantThis role cannot access the Administration or Developer Resources pages. | View permissions to the various pages in the Sitecore Search interface, such as the Pages, Widgets, Analytics, Global resources, and Content collection pages.Create pages and widgets.Edit page and global widget settings.Create and edit rules. |

| TechAdmin | This role grants the same permissions as the Admin role, as well as some additional permissions. The TechAdmin role is also granted to Sitecore Cloud portal users with Organization Owner or Organization Admin access. | Same permissions as the Admin role.Create and change domain settings.Work with sources. |
If your organization is not using the Cloud portal, the following roles are available.
