Configure commerce analytics

Commerce analytics in Sitecore Search uses commerce-related events to provide insights into product performance at the product and product category level. This helps businesses understand how users interact with different types of searchable content on their website, compare the impact of merchandising strategies, and evaluate performance across stores, customer groups, or product variations.

Commerce analytics also enables businesses to configure which entities represent products in their catalog, facilitating commerce-specific metrics like revenue and conversion rate.

Before you begin
  • Ensure that your domain is configured to send commerce-related events such as product views, add-to-cart, and purchases to the events API.

  • Check the integration guide to confirm that event tracking and entity mapping are set up correctly.

Enable commerce analytics

When you enable commerce analytics, you select an entity that represents a product in your catalog, then you select a category that applies to this product.

To enable commerce analytics:

  1. On the menu bar, click Administration > Domain Settings.

  2. On the General Settings tab, click Document Display Settings.

  3. In the Commerce section, click the Enable commerce analytics switch to enable this functionality.

  4. In the Product Entity drop-down list, select the entity that you would like commerce analytics for.

  5. In the Category Entity drop-down list, select the category that applies to your product entity.

Events that occur for your chosen product entity will also be counted against your chosen category, and used to provide analytics at both the product level and the product category level. You can also link your product to additional categories by using tags.

View commerce analytics

After you have configured an entity for use with commerce analytics, you can access commerce-specific reports for your product catalog in the Analytics window.

To view commerce analytics:

  1. On the menu bar, click Analytics.

  2. On the Analytics page, in the menu, select a report from the Commerce drop-down list.

  3. Use the various reports to analyze the performance of your product catalog.
