XP and CDP terminology

This topic gives you an overview of the terms used in the information about the xDB to CDP Migration tool. As shown in the table, some terms have different names in XP and CDP. We'll be using the terms from Sitecore Experience Platform (XP) and only mention the Sitecore CDP terms in this topic.

| Contact | Guest | Any person who interacts with your organization or website. A contact can be a known contact or an anonymous contact. |
| Facet | Guest data extension | Information about a contact, for example, personal information, such as JobTitle and PreferredLanguage. This includes both built-in facets and custom facets. |
| Interaction | Session | Any action done by a user who interacts with a website, such as viewing a page, searching, or clicking a link. |

|---|---|
| Recipe | A program that carries out a set of steps in a predefined sequence when it runs. |
| Contact list | A static list of contacts. |
| Segmented list | A contact list based on one or more conditions, for example, contacts whose birthday is today. |
