Localize content

Content Hub ONE simplifies the process of creating content in multiple languages and preserves the content item's structure and the link to the original content item.

Important

To enable localization, the Content Hub ONE Administrator must create locales.

When you create a content item, it becomes the primary content item. You can create localizations from the primary content item or from an existing localization. Each localization has its own locale, but all localizations retain the ID of the primary content item.

Note

When you duplicate a content item, the duplicate becomes the primary content item.

Overview of the localization process
Note

When no locale is selected, the locale is null. You cannot change the locale after a localization is created.

The primary content item and the localizations are all individual content items and can be published independently, but they are associated each to the other and you can switch between them from the details page. In the following example, the primary content item is in American English, which has a locale code of en-US. The localizations are in French (Canada) and Spanish (Spain). You can move between the primary content item and the localizations by clicking the links in the Localization section.

The workflow to create localizations, which is the first step in the translation process, is:

  1. The Administrator defines the locales for the languages required.

  2. Content authors create localizations, add the necessary content and translate it as required, and then publish as needed.

Note

In Content Hub ONE, each tenant has its own tenant-specific locales.
