Manage taxonomies
While the content model gives structure to your content, a taxonomy provides a system for organizing content into categories and then classifying the content in each category based on shared characteristics. This lets content authors, and those consuming the output, sort, filter, and find content more easily.
Before using taxonomies, decide on the broad categories into which your content can be classified (for example, Hotels, Destinations, Tours). These categories translate into the content types used to create content. Then, decide the breakdown in each category, for example, within the Hotels category, you might have Amenities and Room type.
Once you have decided on a taxonomy strategy, you can manage taxonomies from the Taxonomies page.

Adding a Select field to a content type and linking it to a taxonomy lets content authors select taxonomy values when they create content based on that type. You can either create the taxonomy and its values before you create the content type, or you can create them when you add the Select field.
In the following example, the taxonomy Amenities contains five taxonomy values and is associated with the Select field Amenities.
