Manually trigger a recrawl or reindex

You can manually recrawl a Sitecore Search source when you want Search to connect to your original content, pull the latest information, and then recreate indexes. You can also recreate indexes to reflect the latest domain configuration settings.

The following are some common use cases to manually trigger a recrawl or reindex:

  • If your original content has important updates and you don't want to wait for the next scheduled crawl, you can manually trigger a recrawl.

  • If you add a new suggestion block, you can manually trigger a reindex for the change to take effect.

Manually trigger a recrawl of all sources

If you have updates to your original content that affect all sources, you can recrawl all sources at the same time.

To manually trigger a recrawl of all sources:

  1. In the top right corner of the Sources page, click Recrawl All Sources .

All sources are now queued for recrawling.

Manually trigger a recrawl of one source

If you have updates to your original content that affect one source, you can recrawl an individual source.

To manually trigger a recrawl of one source:

  1. Click the source you want to recrawl.

  2. In the top right corner of the Source Settings page, click Recrawl .

The source is now queued for recrawling.

Manually trigger a reindex of all sources

If you have made a change that affects all sources, you can reindex all sources at the same time.

To manually trigger a reindex of all sources:

  1. In the top right corner of the Sources page, click Reindex All .

All sources are now queued for reindexing.

Manually trigger a reindex of one source

If you have made a change that affects one source, you can reindex an individual source.

To manually trigger a reindex of one source:

  1. Click the source you want to reindex.

  2. In the top right corner of the Source Settings page, click Reindex .

The source is now queued for reindexing.
