Create an automation to set a custom field value

You can create an automation to specify your selected custom field's value. For example, you can automatically change the value of a custom field when a subscriber makes a purchase on your site. When using this type of action, changes in your email lists or custom fields can affect your automation.

To create an automation to set a custom field value:

  1. Click Add flow step   below any part of your workflow where you want to add a Then set a custom field value action.

  2. In the Select action dialog, click Actions.

  3. Click next to the Then set a custom field value action.

  4. In the Then set a custom field value dialog, click the Custom Field drop-down menu and select the custom field that you want to set a new value for.

    Note

The name of the email list where the custom field belongs to is indicated in brackets. If someone who is not subscribed to that email list triggers the automation, they will be added to the list automatically.

  5. Click the Create Member drop-down menu and select how you want to create the member if it does not exist in the email list:

    • Yes - Create the member if it does not exist

    • Yes - Create the member if it does not exist as verified, I have consent from an external source

    • No - Do not create a new member

  6. Click Save.
