Preview a page in context

When working with pages, you might want to preview a page with a specific context applied. Sitecore Search lets you define context using one or a combination of items such as:

  • What the visitor is searching for or keyword.

  • Filtering or sorting options the visitor interacts with.

  • Visitor context details, such as location or device, or other visitor's details of your choice.

For example, you might want to view a search results page when searching for a given keyword, or when specific filtering or sorting options are applied. You might also want to see results returned based on specific types of visitor's details, like location.

Note

The context and filtering options available depend on your solution implementation. For example, you can only preview search results using filters or sorting options that your domain is configured to support.

To preview a page with a specific context:

  1. On the menu bar, click Pages.

  2. Click on the page, then the variation that you want to preview.

  3. On the Page Components tab, in the left pane, click an arrow to expand a context category.

For example, to view options related to the visitor, click the arrow next to Visitor Context.

  4. Fill in the context values or filters you want to enable while previewing the page. As you add context values and filters, the preview pane updates to show new content based on your choices.
