Configure a catalog

Version: 10.3

When a catalog has been defined in the Business Tools or imported using Postman and is available in the Content Editor, there are several steps that you must complete in order for it to appear on the storefront and display correctly with the appropriate URL.

Note

Be sure to set up the catalog first.

To configure a catalog:

  1. In the Content Editor, go to /sitecore/Content/<tenant>/<site>/Home/Catalogs, and select the catalog to configure.

  2. In the Template Overrides section, configure the override catalog templates, for each template type.

  3. Configure the catalog presentation.

  4. Define the Navigation Settings, which are set by default on the Default Commerce Header partial design (/sitecore/Content/<tenant>/<site>/Presentation/Partial Designs/Default Commerce Header). To do this, on the ribbon, on the Presentation tab, click Details and, in the Layout Details dialog box, in the Default section, click Commerce Navigation.

  5. So that the metadata component outputs the right canonical URLs, in the Commerce section on the Content tab, select the new catalog and define the Start Navigation Category (/sitecore/Content/<tenant>/<site>/Settings/Commerce/Catalog Configuration).

    Warning

This step is required. Without a defined start navigation category, an error occurs.

  6. Configure the search scopes (sitecore/Content/<tenant>/<site>/Settings/Scopes):

    • Category scope - to display products within a specific category.

    • Habitat catalog scope - to display products within a particular catalog.

    • Recommended products scope - (used on the SXA Storefront site template Home page) to search for a list of recommended products based on the last order placed and the related product relationship defined in the catalog.

    • Mira laptops scope - (used on the SXA Storefront site template Home page) to display only Mira brand laptops.

    • On sale televisions scope - (used on the SXA Storefront site template Home page) to display only those televisions that are on sale.

    • Related products on PDP scope - (used on the SXA Storefront site template Product Details Page) to display related products as defined in the catalog.

    Important

If you are using the storefront site template but are not using the Habitat catalog, you must update the default scopes to refer to your own catalog.

  7. Publish your changes.

  8. Rebuild search indexes.
