1. Public app analytics

Analytics for a public app

In the Cloud Portal App studio, every published public app has an Analytics tab. The Analytics tab shows detailed metrics about how the app is discovered, installed, used, and uninstalled across Sitecore organizations.

The dashboard uses page views of your app details page in the public Marketplace and installation, usage, and uninstallation activity across Sitecore organizations.

These insights help you compare adoption with actual usage, identify friction after installation, and understand how engagement and retention change over time.

The Analytics tab is available for public apps created by your organization in the Published, Suspended, or Scheduled deletion status. Public apps in other statuses and custom apps do not have these metrics.

The app developer's own activity is excluded from analytics calculations, including app details page views, installations, app openings, and uninstallations. Activity by other team members in the developer's organization is included.

Data refreshes daily.

Open the dashboard

To open a public app's Analytics dashboard:

  1. In the Cloud Portal, click App studio > Studio.
  2. Above the app list, select Public.
  3. Click the app you want to review. The app must be in the Published, Suspended, or Scheduled deletion status.
  4. Click the Analytics tab.
An individual public app's Analytics dashboard shows discovery, adoption, engagement, and uninstallation metrics.

Filter data

Use the Time selector to choose the period to review:

  • 1 day
  • 1 week - the default selection.
  • 1 month
  • All time

The selected period applies to the app's metrics and reports. The exact date range appears under the Time selector.

For the graphs, the selected period changes only the dates displayed. The rates are calculated using data from the app's lifetime up to each date shown.

App metrics

The first row on the dashboard summarizes discovery, adoption, and engagement for the selected period using the following metrics:

  • App details page views - the number of times the app details page was viewed in the public Marketplace.
  • Organizations that installed - the number of organizations that installed the app. Each organization is counted once, even if it installed the app multiple times.
  • Activation rate - the percentage of organizations where your app was opened at least once after installation.
  • Active organizations - the number of organizations where at least one user opened the app at least once in any of the app's extension points in the selected period. An installation alone does not indicate that the app is being used.
  • Organizations that uninstalled - the number of organizations that uninstalled the app. Each organization is counted once, even if it uninstalled the app multiple times.

Green or red trend indicators next to each metric show the daily change.

Views and installations

The Views and installations graph compares page views for the app details page in the public Marketplace with installations over time. Hover over a data point to view values for a specific date.

User engagement

The User engagement graph shows the number of active users over time. A user is active when they open the app.

The table below the graph lists active organization counts by date.

Use this report to understand whether organizations continue using the app after installation.

Uninstallations

The Uninstallations graph tracks uninstallations over time.

The table below the graph lists values by date.

Use this report to identify changes in uninstallation activity and compare them with app updates or customer feedback.

Uninstallation rate

The Uninstallation rate graph tracks the app's uninstallation rate over time.

Uninstallation rate is the percentage of organizations that installed the app and uninstalled it at least once.

Calculation: (organizations that uninstalled the app ÷ organizations that installed the app) × 100

For each date shown, the calculation includes all installations and uninstallations since the app was first published. Each organization is counted once, even if it installed or uninstalled the app multiple times. The selected period changes only the dates displayed, not the counts used in the calculation.

Interpreting dashboard values

Review related metrics together to identify where the app experience may need improvement.
