Manage a point of sale in Sitecore Personalize

A point of sale (POS) is a specific storefront where your organization sells products. For example, one of your organization's websites might cater to customers in Spain, and another website might sell products in France, under a different brand.

By adding a POS for each storefront, you can track conversion rates, view order attribution, and perform cross-analytics.

Setting up a POS has several advantages when personalizing experiences. It lets you:

  • Designate a specific POS to run an experience, ensuring targeted and relevant user engagement.

  • Include POS attributes in a decision model variant to determine the next best action or offer. For example, you can use the pos.language, pos.timeoutInMinutes, pos.market, and pos.brand attributes as logic when writing a rule in Sitecore Personalize.

  • Define a condition to trigger an experience based on a certain POS. For example, you can trigger an experience only for your French retail website.

Add a point of sale

You can create a new POS to represent a distinct storefront within your organization.

To add a point of sale:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Settings icon > Points of Sale.

  2. On the Points of Sale page, click Create.

  3. In the Create Points of Sale dialog, specify the following fields:

    • Name - enter a name for the POS, for example, myretailsite.co.uk.

    • Market - enter the market for the POS. This might be the region or country associated with the POS, for example, France.

    • Brand - enter the brand for the POS. This is the marketing brand the POS is under, for example, Acme French Scarves.

    • Language - enter the two-letter, ISO 639-1 language code for the POS, for example, fr.

    • Timeout (in minutes) - select the number of minutes before the browser session times out as a result of inactivity, for example, 20. We recommend matching the timeout value you have set on your website.

  4. Click Create.

Delete a point of sale

You can delete a POS if you are certain your organization will no longer need it or if it was set up in error. Before you delete a POS, make sure that you are not using it as an attribute in any conditions or decision model variants.

To delete a point of sale:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Settings icon > Points of Sale.

  2. In the last column of the POS you want to delete, click Delete icon .

  3. Click Delete Point of Sale.

Copy a point of sale to another tenant

You can copy a POS from one tenant to another using the Copy to tenant feature. For example, you can easily copy a POS from a non-production environment to a production environment. This process saves time and reduces errors from manual copying and pasting.

To copy a POS to another tenant:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Settings icon > Points of Sale.

  2. Find the POS you want to copy and click Copy to tenant icon.

  3. Select a destination tenant from the drop-down list. The list only includes tenants you have access to. Click Go.

  4. In the Copy To Tenant page, enter a unique name for the POS.

    Important

If a POS with the same name already exists in the destination tenant, to avoid conflicts, you can overwrite the POS or create a new one with a unique name.

  5. Click Create. A message appears on the page confirming that the POS has been successfully copied. The Points of Sale page opens within the selected destination tenant. You can use the search bar to filter the list of POS and quickly locate the one you copied.
