Create an A/B/n test
A/B/n testing involves creating an A/B test to compare two or more variants of a low code component to determine which one performs better. You have the flexibility to choose the base content for each variant, create additional variants, and customize their content, layout, and styling.
You cannot create an A/B/n test on a page that has personalization configured.
You can create up to six A/B/n tests simultaneously on a page. To optimize performance, any additional tests will be queued and start only when a slot becomes available.
To create an A/B test:
-
In the Page builder Editor mode, open the page that contains the component you want to test.
-
Select the component and in the context toolbar, click
.
-
In the Create an A/B test dialog, enter a unique, descriptive name for your test and click Save.
The page displays the status of the created A/B/n test as Draft. In the right-hand pane, you'll also see the test's name and the default tabs for the two automatically created variants: Variants A and B. Variant A, assigned as the control variant, is a copy of the originally selected component. Variant B is your new component variant.

-
To create additional variants of the component, click
. You can have up to 6 variants in your test. You can rename your variants as needed, except for Variant A. -
To set the content for a variant, in the right-hand pane, select the tab of the variant and choose one of the following options:
-
Copy original component - use the content of Variant A (Control) as the base of your variant. This option copies Variant A and its existing rendering parameters into your variant, and automatically creates and assigns a copy of the content item.
-
Swap with another component - use a different component as base of your variant. Select a component that's compatible with your variant to copy it into your variant. You might be asked to select a content item if the component requires it.
-
Hide component - hide the content of this variant from being displayed. When the test is running, any visitors assigned to this variant will not see this component on the page.
-
-
Make any further updates to the content, layout, and styling of your variants as needed for your test.
NoteCompared to code components, FEaaS and BYOC components have fewer editing options for variants. For example, you can't change their assigned data source.
You've now successfully created an A/B/n test for a component and set up its variants. Next, you can configure the test settings and start the test. You can also rename, reset, or delete variants, or edit or delete the test when necessary.
