Duplicate a component
The Layers tab in the Page builder provides a structured, visual hierarchy of all elements on a page, making it easier to manage complex layouts. It lets you duplicate components directly within this hierarchy, so you can quickly replicate hierarchy structure.
When duplicating a component, the entire component, including all its fields, is duplicated. Any assigned content item is also duplicated. For example, if a component titled Title has a content item titel-1 assigned, the duplicated component will have a new content item called titel-2 assigned. This ensures that authors can edit and save changes independently on the new component without affecting the original.
When you duplicate a component using the Layers tab, the duplicated component appears directly below the original in the hierarchy, preserving the page structure and making it easy to locate and edit.
To duplicate a component:
-
In the Page builder, on the left-hand side Layers tab, click Actions
for the component you want to duplicate. -
To duplicate a component including all its nested components, click Duplicate components. In some cases where a dynamic placeholder identifier is not defined for the parent component, the option is called Duplicate without nested components.
-
The duplicated component appears directly below the original on the Layers tab. You can now drag it to a new position or begin editing it.
