1. Adding components to a page

Duplicate a component

The Layers tab in the Page builder provides a structured, visual hierarchy of all elements on a page, making it easier to manage complex layouts. It lets you duplicate components directly within this hierarchy, so you can quickly replicate hierarchy structure.

When duplicating a component, the entire component, including all its fields, is duplicated. Any assigned content item is also duplicated. For example, if a component titled Title has a content item titel-1 assigned, the duplicated component will have a new content item called titel-2 assigned. This ensures that authors can edit and save changes independently on the new component without affecting the original.

When you duplicate a component using the Layers tab, the duplicated component appears directly below the original in the hierarchy, preserving the page structure and making it easy to locate and edit.

To duplicate a component:

  1. In the Page builder, on the left-hand side Layers tab, click Actions for the component you want to duplicate.

  2. To duplicate a component including all its nested components, click Duplicate components. In some cases where a dynamic placeholder identifier is not defined for the parent component, the option is called Duplicate without nested components.

  3. The duplicated component appears directly below the original on the Layers tab. You can now drag it to a new position or begin editing it.
