Get started with search experiences
Feature availability is part of a phased rollout. Your organization may not see this functionality yet. It will become available when your environment is included in the rollout.
By the end of this walkthrough, you will have all prerequisites needed to get a simple search experience up and running in SitecoreAI. After you have validated that search works in your environment, you can move on to customizing components or building advanced experiences.
A SitecoreAI search experience depends on the following conditions:
-
Search sources must be available in your environment. It is enabled by default. If you encounter issues with this, contact Sitecore support.
-
The Search Configuration Manager Marketplace app must be installed and enabled for your environment.
-
The search experience component must be copied from the starter kit repository to your project. This is typically performed by a developer.
Only when all three are in place can you build and map data to a search component on a page.
Enable the Search Configuration Manager Marketplace app
The Search Configuration Manager app provides the UI panel that allows you to map data fields to UI output in the search component. Without it, you will not see the field‑mapping interface in Page Builder. The app ships pre‑packaged with SitecoreAI, but may need to be enabled for each environment.
To enable the Search Configuration Manager app for an environment:
-
On the navigation menu, click Apps
to open the Apps panel for your environment. -
Click Explore marketplace.
-
Click the Search Configuration Manager app.
-
Click Install.
Once enabled, you’ll see a Search Configuration tab when editing the component on a page.
Add the search component from the Starter Kit
The search component is not included in SitecoreAI by default. It must be taken from the starter kit. This is typically performed by a developer.
To add the search component:
-
Upgrade to the newest starter kit, which includes the search component.
-
Copy just the search component directly from the starter kit repository and add it to your project.
Set up a simple search experience in SitecoreAI
After you have configured the above, you can create a simple search experience by creating a source, then configuring a search component.
