Managing decision model variants in Sitecore Personalize

Creating a decision model variant enables you to take an iterative approach to decision modeling and optimize decisioning. When you want to respond quickly to new business opportunities, regulation changes, and competitive pressure, you can create and test a new decision model variant.

Each decision model variant has a conceptual life cycle. The life cycle involves everything from creating your decision model variants, to testing and placing them into production. You can allocate an audience to the decision model variant when it is in a production state and see which variant results in higher conversions.

Follow this workflow when managing your decision model life cycle:

  • Decision discovery process - this comprises identifying the outcome of your decision model, the required inputs, designing the structure, and the required logic before you start building the decision model. This occurs over a series of cross-functional workshops attended by analysts, architects, data scientists, marketers, IT members, and various representatives from across the business.

  • Create a decision model - the decision model is a container for storing all the decision model variants.

  • Create a decision model variant - after you create a decision model, you must create at least one decision model variant.

  • Test the decision model variant - test the decision model variant to select a guest to run the decision model variant against and see if the expected offers or actions are returned before moving to either a test state or straight to a production state.

  • Optionally, move the decision model variant to a test state to run a silent test.

  • Move the decision model variant from a test state to a production state after you are satisfied with the results of the silent test.

  • Configure an experiment or an experience to use the decision model.

  • Change the status of the experiment or experience to live.
