Set up affinities for a site

You must first set up affinities so SitecoreAI can start calculating scores that your organization can use for personalization. Start by selecting the site, and then assign affinities to the individual pages within that site.

You set up affinities by adding key-value pairs to each page. The Affinity name acts as the key (for example, category or brand), and the Affinity value acts as the value for that page (for example, shoes or clothes). Affinities are assigned per page through the user interface.

When a visitor views a page, SitecoreAI reads the assigned key-value pairs and uses them to calculate affinity scores.

Note

  • You must set up affinities on individual pages within a site. Affinities assigned to pages on one site do not automatically apply to pages on other sites.

  • Each page can have up to 10 affinities.

  • Only pages with assigned affinities contribute to affinity score calculations.

Set up affinities

You can set up affinities on a page to track attributes that are specific to your own content model or business needs.

To set up affinities for a page on a site:

  1. In the navigation menu, click Performance.

  2. In the left-hand pane, select Settings > Affinities.

  3. On the Affinities page, select the site where you want to set up affinities.

    The site pages appear in a list similar to the content tree in Page builder.

  4. Select the relevant page then click Add affinity.

  5. In the Add affinity dialog, in the Affinity name field, enter an attribute to track. This represents what you want to use to identify visitor interests.

    Examples: category, color, brand, topic.

  6. In the Affinity value field, enter the value for that attribute on this page.

    Example: If the Affinity name is category, the value might be shoes, tops, or accessories.

    Tip

    When entering affinity names and values, use a-z, 0-9, and underscores for spaces.

  7. Click Save.

  8. To add additional affinities to the same page, repeat these steps. You can add up to 10 affinities per page.

After affinities are set up for a page, SitecoreAI will automatically calculate affinity scores when visitors view that page.
