Components
Describes the differences between components built in XM Cloud components and the Content Editor, as well as how to work with components to build a page in XM Cloud Pages.
In Sitecore, a page consists of a page layout and components. The page layout defines the overall structure of the page, and a component defines a part of a page.
There are two types of components available for use in XM Cloud Pages:
-
Sitecore components - designers can create components in XM Cloud Components and stage them for use in XM Cloud Pages. Sitecore components can display static or dynamic content from any external data source, including Content Hub ONE. You can configure an XMC component using the settings available in the right-hand pane, and style them with the themes created in the XM Cloud Components Styles.
-
SXA components - developers can build components in the Content Editor and save them in the content tree, under components, to be available for dragging onto a webpage in XM Cloud Pages. You can add static content to an SXA component using content items from Explorer, the Sitecore media library or Content Hub ONE. You can further configure an SXA component using the settings available in the right-hand pane.
You can easily drag both types of components onto the editor canvas to add them to the webpage layout.
