Structuring a page
In Sitecore, a page layout consists of a page layout and components. The page layout defines the overall structure of the page, and a component defines a part of a page.
When creating a page, you can use page templates to create a page where part of the design is already set. In the page, you can then use components that will give your page a structure, such as columns and row splitters, or containers, and configure them appropriately. Finally, you can drag on the canvas, in the containers, any type of components into the layout you have created.
By default, pages created in XM Cloud sites use the Bootstrap 5 grid system. Ask your XM Cloud developer if you need to configure a site to use another grid system, such as Tailwind.
When working with the Shared layout mode switched on, the changes you are making on the layout of the page are shared with all the different versions of that page. This concerns historical versions and language versions, including the ones that were previously approved if the site has a workflow assigned.
