AEO/SEO researcher

The AEO/SEO Researcher is an agent that audits how a website performs across traditional search engine optimization (SEO) and emerging answer engine optimization (AEO) contexts.

It evaluates site visibility, ranking signals, and competitiveness across Google and AI-powered search experiences, such as ChatGPT, Copilot, Perplexity, and Gemini. The agent helps identify high-intent keywords, semantic clusters, and AEO opportunities to improve search visibility and AI citation readiness.

After you provide a website URL, the agent:

  • Performs keyword research, identifies search intent patterns, and clusters related terms

  • Generates actionable SEO and AEO recommendations

When to use

Use the AEO/SEO Researcher for the following business scenarios:

  • Competitive AEO benchmarking.

  • Pre-launch SEO audits.

  • Optimization for generative search and chat engines.

Edit the configuration

Before running the AEO/SEO Researcher, review and edit its configuration to customize how it behaves and generates responses.

Configuration determines what the agent does and how it produces content, and is required to align the agent with your brand, audience, workflows, and specific needs.

Before you begin

Make sure you have a Builder License assigned to your user account. This license is required to edit agents.

To edit the configuration:

  1. In the navigation menu, click Agentic. Then, in the left sidebar, select Agents.

  2. On the Agents page, find AEO/SEO Researcher

  3. Click the actions menu > Edit.

  4. Review and configure each tab as needed to adjust how the agent works:

    • Overview - view the agent's basic information, how it works, and inputs required to run it. This tab is read-only.

    • Instructions - define guidance that shapes how content is generated. For example, you can specify target audiences, channels, languages, and formats.

    • Schemas - define structured JSON output formats. For example, you can add schemas for blog posts, email content, or social media posts.

      • Generate Schema - a default schema is provided for this agent. Edit the schema to define the required fields (for example, summary, overall score, key observations), and other properties, or customize it to match your desired reporting format.

    • HTML Templates - define how generated content is formatted and displayed in previews. Templates typically correspond to the defined schemas.

    • Workflow - view the agent’s execution workflow, including all processing steps. This tab is read-only.

  5. Click Save Changes. Return to the Agents page and run the agent.

Run the agent

Use the AEO/SEO Researcher to perform a website audit for SEO and AEO performance.

To run the agent:

  1. In the navigation menu, click Agentic. Then, in the left sidebar, select Agents.

  2. On the Agents page, find AEO/SEO Researcher.

  3. Click the agent's card. The agent opens on a new page displaying its details.

  4. In the Research Topic or URL section, enter the full URL of the site or page you want to analyze.

    Example: https://myretailsite.com.

  5. Click Start to run the agent.

    Tip

    This step might take some time. You can leave the page and track progress at any time in Spaces.

    The agent analyzes your input and opens a new space for the run.

  7. Click the artifact to view the extracted content. The output t is organized into the following sections, based on the schema defined for the agent:

    • E-E-A-T & brand authority - how well the site demonstrates expertise, trust, and credibility through verified authorship and transparent content.

    • AI/GEO optimization opportunities - key areas for improvement that enhance AI visibility and global search readiness.

    • AI citation forecast - how likely the site is to be cited or referenced by major AI systems such as ChatGPT, Copilot, and Gemini.

    • Weighted summary - the score distribution and the relative influence of each category on the overall result.

    • Overall Recommendation - the next actions to improve SEO and AI-readiness.
