Search experience components
Feature availability is part of a phased rollout. Your organization may not see this functionality yet. It will become available when your environment is included in the rollout.
Search experience components allow you to surface content from a Search Source on a page. Depending on the component type, content can be returned:
- In response to a visitor's search query.
- Based on contextual, behavioral, or site-wide engagement data.
Search experience components display content from a search source that you select. Content returned by a component is subject to that source’s configuration, including content inclusion settings and ranking controls such as boost, bury, and pin rules. As a result, content returned from a source will have the same source configuration wherever that source is used.
Search experience components also share common configuration options, for example, how fields are mapped and how the component is laid out. The available configuration options vary by component type.
Search components
Search components enable visitors to find content by entering a query. When a visitor performs a search by entering a query, the component searches the content available in the source you selected and returns matching results. Search components help visitors quickly locate specific content, products, articles, or other resources while giving you control over how that content is presented.
The search query, or keyphrase, provides the criteria used to retrieve search results. It can be entered directly by a visitor or generated from a selection they make in the interface.
Recommenders
Recommenders surface relevant content without requiring visitors to perform a search. Instead of using a search query, recommenders use contextual data to identify content that visitors might find useful or interesting. By presenting relevant content automatically, recommenders can increase content discovery and create more personalized browsing experiences.
The More like this recommender surfaces content related to the page a visitor is currently viewing. Use this recommender to help visitors continue exploring a topic, discover related products, or find similar content without returning to search results.
The current page must be indexed in the selected Search Source for the recommender to return results. The recommender uses the URL of the indexed page to identify the corresponding item, then uses the values in its searchable fields to find related items in the source. Recommendation quality depends on the amount of useful content in the searchable fields.
If a recommender cannot return results because no criteria is available or no matching content exists, it can use a configured fallback strategy. If no strategy can return content, the component hides itself automatically rather than displaying an empty state.
