Work with language versions
In XM Cloud, when a site exists in a different language version, it does not necessarily mean that all its pages automatically exist in that language version. You have to create the various language versions for each of the pages you want to have in a specific language. Alternatively, you can also enable a language fallback strategy, so that when a language version of a page is missing in language A, you can choose that the language B version of the page is displayed on the live website instead.
You can easily create a new language version for one page of the site at a time. You can also create a new language version for every pages of the site using the Content Editor.
Check if a language version of a page exists
The site tree displays all the pages that exist for all versions combined. Pages that exist in the language selected in the top toolbar are shown in black, and pages that do not yet exist in the selected language are shown in grey.

You can also check what version a page exists in in the page's settings:
-
In the page builder, in the Pages tab, click
> Settings.
Create a language version for a page
You can only create a language version in a language that was enabled for the site.
To create a page in a specific language version:
-
In the page builder, in the top toolbar, in the language version drop-down menu, click on the language you want to work with.
-
In the site tree, pages that do not exist yet in the selected language version are greyed out. Hover the mouse in the site tree over the page for which you want to create a language version and click
.
-
In the Create version dialog, you can enter a different name for this version. The page's name remains the same in the site tree, but the version name is available when working with language versions in Explorer.
-
Click Create.
You can now edit your page to customize its content to the language version of the site before publishing it.
