Sending exported data to a third-party system
The goal of audience export is to help you quickly and efficiently activate audiences outside Sitecore CDP, in third-party systems such as social media platforms, digital advertising platforms, email marketing apps, and business intelligence (BI) tools. This requires that you get the exported data out of Sitecore CDP and into the third-party system. Although you could manually download the output of an audience export from Sitecore CDP and then manually upload it to the third-party system, you should consider automating this process so you can activate audiences fast and at scale.
To automate the process, you'll need to set up a connection between Sitecore CDP, an integration tool such as Sitecore Connect, and the third-party system. This way, the integration tool will automatically upload the output to the third-party system.
Automating the process with Sitecore Connect
Automatically sending the exported data to a third-party system using Sitecore Connect involves the following steps:
-
Connect Sitecore CDP to Sitecore Connect - in this step, you create a Sitecore CDP connection to a Sitecore Connect recipe. This ensures that the two apps can communicate with each other.
-
Add the connection to an audience export in Sitecore CDP - this ensures that your Sitecore Connect recipe receives a webhook notification every time your audience export finishes running.
-
Receive the output of an audience export in your Sitecore Connect recipe - in this step, you configure your recipe to receive and extract the output of your audience export.
-
Continue configuring your Sitecore Connect recipe by uploading the data to a third-party system - to do this, find the integration that best suits your requirements on the Workato website (Sitecore Connect uses the Workato automation platform).
After setting up the automation process, the exported data will be automatically sent from Sitecore CDP through Sitecore Connect to the third-party system, where you can activate your audience.
Example
Consider a segment of guests that have completed an order on your website in the past year. You decide to run a social media retargeting campaign for subgroups of this segment, depending on the country the guests are associated with. Because this segment changes daily, it's a good idea to automate the process of uploading the exported data to the social media platform.
To automate the process, you create multiple audience exports based on a single segment but using different segment subgroups, and then connect all these audience exports to a single Sitecore Connect recipe:

In this example, a single Sitecore Connect recipe receives a webhook notification every time any of the audience exports finishes running. After configuring the recipe, it will receive and extract the output of the audience exports, and then upload the exported data to the connected social media platform.
