View segment usage and details

After creating a segment and scheduling it, you can view its details and see the entities that use the segment. This helps you understand how editing or deleting the segment affects other entities such as experiences, experiments, or audience exports.

To view segment usage and details:

  1. On the navigation menu, click Batch segments > Batch segments.

  2. Select the segment you want to view.

  3. In the segment builder, below the segment title, you can see the status, date the segment was last updated and the user who edited it.

Viewing segment usage and details in the segment builder in Sitecore CDP.

The segment details and usage are organized into the following sections: Audience Insights, Segment size, Details, Usage, and Sample.

  4. In the Audience Insights section, view the following:

    • Membership - displays the total number of guests that are members of the segment since the last time the segment build ran.

    • % of Total Guests - displays the percentage of guests that belong to the segment, out of all guests that your organization has in Sitecore CDP.

    • Delta - displays the number of guests that have been added to or removed from the segment since the last time the segment build ran. Sitecore CDP updates segment members once every 24 hours.

    • % Change - displays the percentage of guests that have been added to or removed from the segment since the last time the segment build ran.

  5. On the Activity tab, the Segment size section displays a graph showing the number of guests in the segment over time. By default, the filter is set to All to display data for the entire duration the segment is live, but you can adjust it to display data for the Last month, Last 2 months, or Last 3 months. This helps you track fluctuations in segment membership and understand changes in audience size over the selected period.

  6. In the Details section, view the following:

    • Run time - displays the last date and timestamp of the last segment build. Segments are updated on a daily basis.

    • Last Live - displays the last date and timestamp of when the segment status was changed to live.

    • Friendly ID - displays the unique ID of the segment.

    • Reference - displays the unique segment reference.

  7. In the Usage section, view the Experiences, Experiments, Audience export and Decision Model Variants that use the segment. The status of the entity displays next to the segment. The Decisioning tile displays the name of the variant, the name of the decision model in parentheses, and the status of the decision model variant, as shown in the following image:

    Viewing segment usage

Click the name of an Experience, Experiment, Audience export, or Decision Model to display it.

  8. In the Sample section, view a sampling of guests within the segment, and the following details:

    • Name - click the name or identifier to view the guest profile. For organizations that use Personally Identifiable Information (PII) data to create guest profiles, this displays the first and last name of the guest. For organizations that do not use PII data to create guest profiles, this displays the unique identifier.

    • Type - displays one of the following guest types:

      • Customer - a customer is a guest that has provided enough identity information according to your organization's identity rules.

      • Visitor - a guest who has not provided enough identity information or has provided partial identity information but not enough to meet the organization's identity rules.

    • Email - displays the guest's email address. For organizations that do not capture email addresses for the guest profile, this displays Unknown.

The following image shows a segment sample for an organization that uses unique identifiers to capture guest data. It does not pass Personally Identifiable Information to Sitecore CDP, so the Type and Email fields do not contain values:
