Delete a guest in Sitecore CDP

You can delete a guest in Sitecore CDP to comply with Global Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). Deleting a guest in the UI is an alternative to programmatically deleting a guest using the Batch API.

Team members with an Organization Admin or Organization Owner role in Sitecore Cloud Portal can delete a guest.

We recommend you familiarize yourself with identity resolution before following this procedure.

After you delete a guest, it can take up to 24 hours for the guest data to no longer be available in Sitecore CDP.

To delete a guest:

  1. On the navigation pane, click > Manage guests.

  2. In the Manage Guests screen, in the Identifiers drop-down list, click the identifier to use in your search and enter the string value in the text box:

    • Guest Ref - select this option to search for the guest using their guest reference. This is the default.

    • Identifier - select an identifier to use in your search. Only identifiers that are specific to your organization display. For example, Email is a common identifier for many organizations. You can view your organization's identity rules in Sitecore CDP.

    Note

If your organization does not use identifiers to perform identity, you must search using Guest Ref. To do this, view the guest reference and copy and paste it into the search field.

If there is a match, the search results display the string value and the matching identifier.

  3. To delete the guest, click .

  4. A warning message displays. Click Delete Guest.

The guest record is permanently deleted along with their orders, order items, sessions, and events. It can take up to 24 hours for the guest data to no longer be available in Sitecore CDP. As the data controller, it is your responsibility to ensure that none of your systems send any of the deleted guest's Personally Identifiable Information (PII) to Sitecore CDP.
