Enable autocomplete for fields

Autocomplete, also known as autofill, is a feature in web browsers that helps users to fill out forms more quickly, by suggesting previously entered information. When users start typing in a form field, the browser can display options based on data they've entered before, such as names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. This can save them time and effort, especially for frequently used information.

Autocomplete is enabled automatically for the Email and Phone fields. However, to benefit from the autocomplete option for free text fields, you must manually set up the field type (and optionally, the field subtype) for the relevant fields. Specifying the field type and subtype helps refine the information that is stored by the browser and suggested to users when they complete the form.

To enable autocomplete for free text fields:

  1. Open the relevant form and click the field you want to enable autocomplete for.

  2. In the right-hand pane, in the Autocomplete section, in the Field type drop-down list, click the category that defines the field best, for example, Full name, Honorific prefix, and so on.

  3. Optionally, in the Field subtype drop-down list, click the category that further defines the field best, for example, Shipping or Billing.

  4. When you have finished designing, save your form.
