Rename, reset, or delete a variant

You can rename, reset, or delete any variant in your A/B/n test, with the exception of the control variant (Variant A). These options are available while the test is in Draft status.

Rename a variant

You have the flexibility to change the name of any variant in your A/B/n test, except for Variant A. This option is available while the test is in Draft status.

To rename a variant:

  1. In the Page builder Editor mode, open the page that contains the A/B/n test variant you want to rename.

  2. In the right-hand pane, select the tab of the variant and click Actions > Rename variant.

Click the horizontal ellipsis in the right-hand pane to access additional options to rename, reset, delete a variant.
  3. Enter a unique variant name and press Enter. This action changes the name displayed for the variant in the right-hand pane. However, the labels on the tab such as B, C, and so on, will not change.

Reset a variant

If you need to revert a variant back to its initial blank state and start over, you can reset it. This option is available to any variant, except for Variant A, while the test is in Draft status.

To reset a variant:

  1. In the Page builder Editor mode, on the Pages tab, open the page that contains the A/B/n test variant you want to reset.

  2. In the right-hand pane, select the tab of the variant and click Actions > Reset variant. This action reverts the variant to its initial, blank state. You can set the content for your variant again.

Delete a variant

You can delete any variant in your A/B test if it's no longer needed, except for Variant A. This option is available while the test is in Draft status and as long as there are at least three variants, including the control variant.

If you prefer not to delete the variant and want to start over, consider resetting the variant instead.

To delete a variant:

  1. In the Page builder Editor mode, open the page that contains the A/B test variant you want to delete.

  2. In the right-hand pane, select the tab of the variant and click Actions > Delete variant.

  3. In the confirmation dialog, click Delete. This action deletes the variant from the test and removes its tab from the right-hand pane. When a variant is deleted, any traffic previously assigned to it will be disregarded and you'll need to reassign that traffic to the remaining variants.

    Note

If you delete an intermediate variant, the tab labels will adjust automatically. For example, if you have variants A, B, C, and D, and you delete variant C, the tab for variant D will be relabeled as C, but its content will remain unchanged.
