1. Using components in a webpage

Stage and publish a component

When a component prototyped in the Component builder is ready to use in a webpage designed with the Page builder, you must stage it. A staged component appears on the Components tab of the page builder where you can use it to build webpages.

To send a component directly to Sitecore Edge so it becomes visible on your website, you must publish it. It is best practice to only publish staged components.

Stage and publish a single component version

Each component version can be staged and published individually.

To change the state of a component's version:

  1. In the Component builder, select a component version.

  2. Click Actions in the top right of that component.

  3. In the drop-down menu, select the state you want to give to the component.

After it is staged, the component is available for use in the page builder.

Publish more than one component version at the same time

It is possible to publish several versions of a component or several components at once.

To change the state of more than one component:

  1. On the Publishing tab, select the components, or versions of components, or collections of components you want to publish.

To help you select only the versions and components you want:

    • Click the switch to display only the Ready for staging and Ready for publishing.

    • Click the switch to Hide versions that have not been staged yet.

    • Search for a specific version or component by name.

    • Select which Collection(s) of components should be displayed.

  2. Click Publish to publish all the selected components' versions.
